Description

The 5th Annual Annapolis Digby Tourism Showcase is a great opportunity for exhibitors to promote their products and services locally, creating awareness within our regional market.  For attendees, it is a chance to experience the diversity of what our area has to offer while enjoying some great shopping!  All kinds of things — crafts, clothing, jewellery, wines, gift certificates — are on offer.

The Tourism Showcase is open to the public on Saturday, from 9 AM until 4 PM.  Admission is $2.

Workshops and special events, all around the theme of Community Beautification, are being added to this year's line up.  For instance, Trish Fry of the Historic Gardens will be making a presentation on beautification through gardening, and Lorraine Beswick will be making a presentation on the design elements of beautification.

Here's info on this year's workshops and presenters:

10:30 AM             Lorraine Beswick & Trish Fry:  Store Front Beautification (35-40 minutes)

ABOUT LORRAINE BESWICK:  I’ve been gardening for approximately thirty years now, and working with flowers for the past twenty.  Sharing my love of this world is one of my passions, and have been doing so for many years, vis-à-vis delivering workshops and presentations to local garden clubs; partnering with the Historic Gardens and the local arts council; and, for private clients, arranging flowers for special events and weddings.   Most recently, I have begun a new series with fellow gardener and designer, Nina Newington, called ‘Garden Skills: Two Gardeners Banter.’

ABOUT TRISH FRY:   As Manager of the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens, I have a fierce pride in the Gardens and my hometown, and welcome every opportunity to spread the good word about both.  Following the naming of Annapolis Royal as UNESCO’s ‘Most Liveable Small Town in the World’ of 2004, I’ve acted as a Community Tour Guide for annual delegations of Communities in Bloom judges who have visited.  In fact, with the Historic Gardens as its centerpiece, Annapolis Royal has garnered awards at the provincial, national and international levels of Communities in Bloom.  I’m also a pretty decent nature photographer!

2:30 PM                Linda Brown:  Signage in Our Community (25-30 minutes)

ABOUT LINDA BROWN:  As a local business person and minister, long-time community volunteer and avid supporter of all things Annapolis Royal, Linda is often at the head of the line when presenters are called upon!  Linda will be talking about some of the principles of signage as put forward by tourism consultant Roger Brooks.

All presentations will be made from the stage which is set up in the Multipurpose Space, located in the North Wing of Champlain Hall.
