Tourism Industry Lauds Local Duo

seafaring_maiden_citationBill and AnnMarie Monk who own and operate the award winning B&B, A Seafaring Maiden, in Granville Ferry were honoured at last week’s Annual Conference of the Tourism Industry of Nova Scotia (TIANS) held in the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax.

Their citation read as follows:

“The fourth Pineapple Award we are presenting tonight is something a little different. The Pineapple Awards are about pride in service to the visitors of Nova Scotia and we would be remiss to not recognize this property which warranted so many nominations about their service and commitment to the community.  For this award we will be recognizing Bill & Ann Marie Monk of A Seafaring Maiden B&B in Granville Ferry.

“This B&B was selected as BEST IN CANADA in the annual Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards for 2010-2011 and currently ranked # 1 Bed & breakfast on trip advisor based on posted reviews.  One review, from a US visitor states “we can’t say enough about our experience at A Seafaring Maiden. We stayed at a dozen B&B’s on our travels around the Maritimes and this one was by far the best. Not only were the hosts Bill and Ann Marie the most helpful and friendliest but the details that they incorporate to make their guests feel welcome surpass everyone else. From the coffee waiting outside your room when you rise early in the morning to the 5-star food, you won’t find a better B&B.  We will return”.

“The commitment to our Nova Scotia visitors extends beyond Bill and Ann Marie’s doors to the Annapolis Royal area. Ann Marie has ancestral ties to the area dating back to 1761 and A Seafaring Maiden B&B, built in 1881, was originally the home of her great, great grandfather, Captain Joseph Hall. Both Bill and Ann Marie understand the historical significance of the Annapolis Royal area and are enthusiastically supportive of its many valued tourism and historic sites and events.  They are unselfish in their time and efforts to enhance the tourism community in Annapolis Royal, supporting many cultural and historical efforts.

“They have worked hard to improve the service for visitors to their community by developing training modules for staff at The Historic gardens in Annapolis Royal, In addition, Ann Marie created “Music in the Gardens,” scheduling local musicians, including herself, to perform during the summer months in The Historic Gardens to enhance visitors’ experiences.   “The fourth Pineapple Award we are presenting tonight is something a little different.
