IncrEDIBLE Picnic a Sold Out Success

Charcoal-smoked Nova Scotia pulled pork from Hog Wild – sold out.

"Sold out," said the young woman selling vegetarian wraps.

Bruce Family Farm's certified organic beef burgers were all gone too, but the day-long line up pushed forward for its beef sausages on a bun.

Select Nova Scotia's IncrEDIBLE Picnic at the Annapolis Royal Farmers Market Sunday saw several hundred hungry guests sampling local wines, home cooking and baking under sunny skies.

Music by Tom Berry and friends Jim Todd, guitar, Geoff Keymer, five string banjo and Dave York bass, as well as Annapolis, Maryland, based Them Eastport Oyster Boys was the sound track for the third annual event.

"After two rained-out dates last year, we had our fingers crossed," said organizer Heather LeBlanc. "We are so pleased to have such a glorious day to show our guest local products at their best."

Adding to the lively atmosphere were a number of artists set up around the Market, producing work for the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council's ‘Paint the Town’ long-time late-August event.

Twenty producers offered a range of products from pure blueberry juice and grilled tofu and vegetable kebabs to organic granola and apple pies. Both Beavercreek Winery, Lawrencetown, and Annapolis Highland Winery, Bear River, were on hand with samples of their local vintages.

"The demand for local, fresh produce and products made right here at home is growing," said LeBlanc. "As Nova Scotian's become more and more aware of what we have so close to home, through Select Nova Scotia events such as this one, we all help support local growers and producers by buying locally."
