5 YEAR INVESTMENT STRATEGY - JANUARY, 2010

In July of 2009, we awarded the contract to develop a 5 Year Investment Strategy for the Annapolis Digby region to Dartmouth-based Downeast Consulting Group, in partnership with Jupia Consultants of Moncton and Eaton Peabody of Augusta, Maine.  The Final Report is now available, along with an Executive Summary as well as the  Economic Assets Map. This report forms the basis of  ADEDA's 2010-11 Business Plan.

 

MID-YEAR REVIEW:  REACHING BEYOND - NOVEMBER, 2009

At the six month mark in a given fiscal year, Nova Scotia Economic & Rural Development (NSERD) requests an update from each of the province's 13 RDAs.  The presentation outlines work done to date against that particular year's business plan.  Here's what we've accomplished so far this year.  (See 'Roadmap to Sustainability' below for our 2009-10 Business Plan.)

NOVA SCOTIA ASSOCIATION OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITIES: 2009 ANNUAL REVIEW

Passion for economic development was alive and well at NSARDA's AGM and Professional Development Conference as the organization launched its 2009 Annual Review in October.  The Review celebrates 10 years of excellence in community economic development by highlighting historic milestones from the past decade.  In addition, the document highlights key achievements from both the Association and its 13 member RDAs, including ADEDA, over the last fiscal year.

DIGBY FERRY STAKEHOLDERS MEETING - APRIL, 2009

Ken Thomas chronicles the history, activities and structure of this community based company based in the Nashwaak Valley just north of Fredricton, NB. Mr. Thomas includes a review of some of the funding issues associated with this unique and challenging business concept.

  • Annapolis Digby EDA

Economic Development Officer Terry Thibodeau provides an overview of the economic benefits of establishing this type of operation in the region and details the need for energy security in our region. The presentation (2.99 Mb) describes some of the next steps that the Agency is undertaking to pursue this opportunity.

 

BIOMASS STUDY – OCTOBER, 2008

Beginning in 2007, we held a series of public meetings to determine bioenergy opportunities in Annapolis Digby. In May of 2008, we formally requested proposals to study the feasibility of establishing a wood pellet or wood chip manufacturing operation in our region. CBCL Limited Energy Services of Halifax submitted the winning proposal and were officially awarded the contract in July. DIGBY PORT READINESS STUDY – MARCH, 2008

In the spring of 2008, the Annapolis Digby Economic Development Agency published an RFP to have a consultant prepare a port readiness program that detailed a plan to attract new business from the small cruise and sailing markets to the Port of Digby. Christopher Wright of The Mariport Group Ltd. won the contract. The report is available here (1.02 Mb).
