Over the summer, this bit of good news about our health care system may have gotten lost in the vaation shuffle:  Nova Scotians can now dial 811 to connect with HealthLink, the province's new 24-hour, seven-day-a-week teleservice.  Here's how HealthLink will help us develop a more sustainable health care system.

Downeast Group has submitted its Phase I interim report of the 5 Year Investment Strategy which ADEDA commissioned this summer.  Some of the findings may surprise you.  For instance, from 1996 to 2006, the immigrant population in Nova Scotia increased by only 7.7%; our region saw growth of more than double that of the province.  To review the report and asset map, simply click here.

In terms of population, ours is the oldest province in Atlantic Canada, and the second oldest in Canada.  Furthermore, the population of seniors in Nova Scotia is projected to double within the next 20 years.  That said, seniors are the most generous segment of the population, giving more of their time and money to support our quality of life.  So when we allow ageist attitudes to go unchallenged, we devalue the knowledge, experience and skills of our seniors.  Here's how this valuable resource can better us all.

The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture commissioned novaknowledge to produce a Report Card assessing the environmental performance of our agricultureal sector.  More information is available here.
